Desperate to the Max (Max Series 3) Desperate to the Max by J.B. Skully

My review

rating: 4 of 5 stars

In the third book in the Max series, Max has another vision of murder. This time, she sees the death of Bethany Spring, the overweight phone sex worker who just happens to live on the same street as Ladybird, Witt’s mother. From her vision and subsequent investigation, Max finds a startling link to her nemesis Bud Traynor.

I grew to like this series even more with this installment. Finally, the humor I’ve been waiting for was evident with the introduction of Witt’s mother. Also, Witt’s and Max’s relationship had some growth spurts in the story. I still get frustrated with Max and want her to open up to someone–anyone, whether it’s Witt, her dead husband, or someone else. I do appreciate the fact that she’s stopped her late night trolling for anonymous sex at the Round Up. She is making progress, just very slowly.
